I first met New York drummer Tony Bianco several years ago when we were both working in Loz Speyer's Timezone. He's a prolific force in new music who regularly records with David Liebman as well as European players from the free jazz scene such as Alex von Schlippenbach and Paul Dunmall.
Tony's music can be intense and quite spiritual, but also funky and angular. This quartet features my long-standing musical friends Oli Hayhurst on bass, and Zoe Rahman on piano (we cut our musical teeth while undergraduates together at Oxford university).
Tony moved back to the US for a while but has since relocated to Shropshire. We share a passion for yoga among other things, and I hope we get to work on another project together at some point.
