I am available for one-to-one tuition on saxophone. I also offer improvisation, ear-training, harmony and composition for players of any instrument. My students range from complete novices to professionals who have often been playing for years but want to improve a particular aspect of their playing. As my student, I will guide you according to your needs and aims and will encourage you in the use of good practice techniques (such as keeping a diary, recording yourself, creative use of the metronome).
My teaching is completely tailored to each individual student and regularly adapted as he or she progresses. Because of my busy performing schedule I don't offer a rigid regular time each week, but prefer to be flexible. Currently, Saturdays are available for private lessons, between 9-6 depending on my other commitments. Weekly lessons are not necessarily right for everyone. It depends on how much time you can devote to study in between lessons.
When you come for a lesson it's a good idea to bring along some kind of recording device (either a minidisk recorder, mp3 recorder, or even a dictaphone). Many students find it useful to record the lessons for reference, as I tend to cover a lot of ground quite quickly. Also a notebook.
As well as teaching one-to-one, I am happy to coach an existing band or to run a group workshop, either regularly or as a one-off session.
